Updated April 23, 2005.
The Revenge of the Sith set is out now. I've kept the set list below, but if you want full stats, I recommend going to swShoebox. The site has stats and pictures for all the Star Wars miniatures that are currently available.
I ended up picking up a Starter, for Obiwan, Grievous and the snappy new hard-mounted map, as well as Anakin, Sith Apprentice, Shaak Ti, Darth Tyranus and two Neimoidian Soldiers. Beyond that, I'm still not terribly excited by this set.
I buy my singles and other things from Coolstuffinc.com. They've been responsive, quick and reliable, all good things.
I've also updated my commentary, based on additional reading and looking at the stats.
Finally, if you've come here off a search for Star Wars figures, I hope the links above will help you out, and I encourage you to check out the main site, parakkum, for SF, fantasy and action-adventure comics.
1. Agen Kolar, Jedi Master (R)
2. Alderaan Trooper (U) (to quote someone from the Wizards of the Coast message boards: But Alderaan is a peaceful planet...)
3. Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight (R)
4. AT-RT (VR)
5. Bail Organa (VR)
6. Captain Antilles (R) Captain Antilles is our new master now...
7. Chewbacca of Kashyyk (VR)
8. Clone Trooper (C) The Clone Troopers in this set can be used in a force with Emperor Palpatine as well
9. Clone Trooper (C)
10. Clone Trooper Commander (U)
11. Clone Trooper Gunner (C)
12. Jedi Knight (U)
13. Mace Windu, Jedi Master (VR) This version of Mace is somewhat more optimized against large groups. He also has good synergy with the Republic version of R2
14. Mon Mothma (VR)
15. Obi Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master (R) Good stats generally, though with a very specific commander effect.
16. Polis Massa Medic (C)
17. R2-D2, Astromech Droid (VR) The best piece in this set. For one more point than the Rebel Storm version, this R2 flies, tows Jedi into battle (silly image, that), can damage other droids and still has override. Sure, he can't repair droids, but who cares? Possibly an effort to make the melee-heavy Republic Jedi forces more competitive, but just a bit too silly for me.
18. Senate Guard (U)
19. Shaak Ti (R) This is the Jedi with the red and white coloration; she faces off against Grievous in the Clone Wars cartoon. She has a pretty cool ability, "Crowd Fighting," which gives her a +2 for each adjacent character other than her target. She also has Lightsaber Sweep, which has excellent synergy with Crowd Fighting She also rocks in season two of Clone Wars, so I might want this piece on general purpose coolness factor alone.
20. Stass Allie (R)
21. Tarrful (R)
22. Wookiee Berserker (C)
23. Wookiee Scout (U)
24. Yoda, Jedi Master (R)
As I said above, I now have Obiwan and Shaak Ti (and two Clone Troopers from the Starter).
25. Battle Droid (C)
26. Battle Droid (C)
27. Bodyguard Droid (U)
28. Bodyguard Droid (U)
29. Darth Tyranus (R) He can impart his Lightsaber Duellist ability to one other figure in his squad. It would be apropos to the Clone Wars cartoon for him to do this for Ventress. I have since tested out this very combination, and along with the Loner ability, this makes Ventress very hard to beat. She took out Anakin, Sith Apprentice in very short order.
30. Destroyer Droid (R)
31. General Grievous, Jedi Hunter (VR) Has quadruple attack, but is only really effective against low-grade Jedi. An equal-cost Jedi, such as Obiwan, will take him out reliably. Far less effective than he is in the Clone Wars series, but that's true of many of the Jedi as well.
32. General Grievous, Supreme Commander (R) The other starter set figure.
33. Grievous's Wheel Bike (VR)
34. Muun Guard (U)
35. Neimoidian Soldier (U) The Neimoidian Soldiers are currently the cheapest figures with Accurate Shot.
36. Neimoidian Soldier (U)
37. San Hill (R)
38. Separatist Commando (C)
39. Super Battle Droid (C)
40. Super Battle Droid (C)
41. Wat Tambor Lots of synergy with a droid army. I have no interest in having one right now, but he is quite effective.
I ended up picking up Tyranus and two Neimoidians, along with two Super Battle Droids from the Starter ('cause I really needed to have thirteen, total...)
42. Boba Fett, Young Mercenary (R) A little kid. Seriously.
43. Chagrian Mercenary Commander (U)
44. Devaronian Soldier (C)
45. Gotal Fringer (U) An obnoxiously random unit that instantly kills its target if it rolls a critical hit.
46. Human Mercenary (U)
47. Iktotchi Tech Specialist (U)
48. Medical Droid (R)
49. Nautolan Soldier (C)
50. Sly Moore (R) A very effective force multiplier -- just keep Dominating your own super-piece each turn.
51. Tion Medon (VR)
52. Utapaun Soldier (C)
53. Utapaun Soldier (C)
54. Yuzzem (C)
55. Zabrak Fringer (C)
Still not interested at all in the Fringers in this set, even with Sly's ability. What's cool about fielding a diplomat?
56. Anakin Skywalker, Sith Apprentice (VR) Reasonably cool abilities. I like the sculpt, too.
57. Dark Side Adept (U)
58. Darth Vader (VR)
59. Emperor Palpatine, Sith Lord (VR)
60. Royal Guard (U)
Clone Strike is still my favorite set.
