An officer of the armies of Avin

My notes have this to say about officers in Avin's armies:

In battle, an officer of Avin wears a bronze chest and backplate, shoulder plates, upper and lower arm armor, plates on the backs of hands, thigh plates and greaves, all with padding underneath. A tabard with the officer's unit insignia is worn over this getup, as well. An officer will also usually carry a sword and possibly a bow. For the last century or so, officers have become even more important for directing a battle once it starts, with means their gear has shifted towards self defense rather than simple attack.
